bookish bit
Mar. 12th, 2003 12:39 pmBecause I am giving up on actually posting. *Grin*
1. What book is in your bathroom?
Cryptonomicon. It's the bathtub copy! Yeay! Um, I think Gravity's Rainbow may also be buried somewhere up in the cabinet.
2. What book is in your purse/backpack?
Right now, Margaret Atwood's The Blind Assassin. It intrigues the hell out of me when I randomly flip pages, but I'm being very lazy about actually starting to read it. Of course, the proximity of the Internet may have something to do with that...
3. What book is on your bedside table?
Hm. There's a whole stack of books up on the bureau by my bed. Uh. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Sally Glassman's voodoo-thing.
4. What was the last book you lent someone?
I lent my mom my copy of American Gods last spring, mostly so she could read the House on the Rock bits. She was supPOSED to enjoy it, but got confused and befuddled. She read Good Omens and was, I think, expecting the same sort of thing. Polytheist, my mamma is not.
5. What was the last book you lent out that someone brought back to you?
Gad, I can't remember. I haven't been lending out books of late. Probably something I let Dia read - Jean Houston's semi-fictional autobiography A Mythic Life would have been one of the last. Ooo, unless you count graphic novels - I loaned From Hell to almost EVERYone.
6. What book do you have loaner copies of, solely for the purpose of foisting it on unsuspecting friends and relatives?
I grab copies of John Crowley's Little, Big whenever I find them. Also have a spare copy of Greer Ilene Gilman's Moonwise, I think. Nice, dense, and folklore-y. I need more English-geek friends.
